A big thank you to Christy for taking time out of her day to do this interview! Make sure to follow her on Instagram @Glamcityrocker.
Q: What is your name and how did you choose it?
A: Christy Brigitte Darlington. I wanted something sassy & fun, something that sounded glamorous, that sounded like a name a Hollywood starlet of yesteryear might have. I normally use my middle name because I think it's more sassy & fun than my first name actually
Q: Who’s fashion or beauty style do you admire? Why?
A: My own! I don't style myself like anybody else. It took me years to realize my stylistic vision for myself and now I am very unique in how I style myself, blending inspo and pieces from different sources. I take fashion risks, I try to have fun. I'm flamboyant and showy. If u got it, flaunt it!
As far as whose style I admire that inspires me, I'd have to say pin-up model Sabina Kelley, & fitness model Cindy Prado. I'm also a big Mae West fan.
Q: What do you find to be the most liberating aspect of being a trans woman?
A: I'm not constrained or boxed in by traditional social notes or religious rules. I transcended humanity. What I mean is trans women are the evolution of humanity. Trans women are magical in a way that the typical human can't understand.
Q: How long have you been transitioning?
A: It has been a lifelong journey. I knew fir sure at 13 transitioning would be my life's journey. I changed my name legally in 1998 but life's circumstances interfered with my plans, so I didn't start HRT until 2021.
Q: If you could have dinner with anyone famous (dead or alive), who would it be?
A. I'd throw a dinner party- why limit myself to just one guest? I would invite many people, many friends. Notables might be Sabina & Cindy, Alok v Menon, Neil DegrasseTyson, Michael Monroe, Kim Petras, GaGa, a few comedians I like, a few rockers maybe. I'm not a big clout chaser.
Q: What’s your favorite movie and/or book? Why?
A. Whoa. Way too many to name so I'll name some faves...
I don't have a singular favourite but I do have some movies I like alot- True Romance, Liquid sky, Killing Zoe, Thrashin', Big trouble in little China, Blue Hawaii, Viva Las Vegas, the first 3 Bourne movies.
Q: If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go? Why?
A: I've always wanted to visit Japan, China, and South Korea. Seems like they are super interesting places.
Q: Any words of wisdom for other women that are transitioning?
A: Follow your heart, stand strong, and don't be so desperate to prove your womanhood that you accept being a sneaky link for "straight" men who want to keep u a secret. Don't "pass" to make others comfortable. Life is too short. Be out and proud. Stand tall and support your trans sisters. Don't settle for a sugar daddy. Get into politics. Change the system from within. Organize our people to fight those who oppress us. Stop being catty with each other and let's all stand united as proud transgender women.
Q: Is there anything else you would like to tell us about yourself?
A: Anybody who follows my social media will discover an unusual approach to documenting my life in a fun way. However I don't curate out the bad. So one day could be sad and depressing, the next happy and full of activity. U never know.
I'm a romantic artist. I'm a lonely trans girl just trying to make my way thru a f*cked up dystopian world. Be kind.
Q: Do you want to shout out your socials?
