Evelyn Keyes Interview

Q. What is your name and how did you choose it?

Evelyn Keyes was an actress from early Hollywood. Vera Keyes was a character modeled in a similar fashion from a video game. The first time I started doing makeup and saw myself in the Mirror, Evelyn just fit. I felt like I was an Evelyn.

Q. Whose fashion or beauty style do you admire? Why?

I admire all types. It’s hard to pinpoint an exact person. But I’m still constantly discovering my own style.

Q. What do you find to be the most liberating aspect of being a trans woman?

I find that since I’ve discovered this in myself I feel like I’ve been born again with a fresh start and a new purpose. New beginnings are always liberating!

Q. How long have you been transitioning?

I just truly started my transition journey almost a year ago. But I would have to say it’s always been inside. It was just repressed by hyper masculine upbringing.

Q. If you could have dinner with anyone (dead or alive), who would it be?

Hmmm probably my girlfriend haha.

Q. What’s your favorite movie and/or book? Why?

My favorite movie would have to be Top Gun...that hasn't changed.

Q. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go? Why?

I would love to tour Europe. And maybe Fiji. Why? Because I've never been and I would find it fascinating.

Q. Any words of wisdom for other women that are transitioning?

I would say as others have told me. Don’t feel rushed, regardless of age. Let yourself be you. It takes courage to be who you truly are. It takes time to learn who that is. So be patient and live as your true self!

Q. Is there anything else you would like to tell us about yourself?

This journey is a constant roller coaster but I'm loving it. And the more I let myself be my true self, the happier I am.
